THERE THE WHOLE TIME

There are many things we possess as believers in Christ, but fail to access for our daily walk. One of those is the peace of God that is ours to walk “inside of” each day. Believers may desire that circumstances change; or for those troubling people to be removed from their lives; or a million other things they ask for, but not realizing that they had what they most needed; the whole time!
The peace of God undergirds all the above items. Without the peace of God in your life none of the things listed above mean anything! I am not speculating here! I have been, too many times, at the bedside of the unbeliever dying and heard the last words of those who got what they wanted off that list above, but did not have the peace of God during their life. Those are sad moments, eternally sad moments.
Starting the last year of Seminary would complete a nine year journey of higher education for me. Southwestern has the largest theological library in the world! I had that at my disposal, the whole time I was there. But there were things about it that were there for my benefit, but I did not know I could access them.
I made good grades, but wonder how much more I could have done if I had know one truth. Just one truth could have changed so much for good.
This was before the internet! So you needed physical access to the library. I lived far away and had to work most days after school. No time to be in the library during the 8 to 5. Some folks lived on campus. Knowing that some folks lived on campus; how could that help me?
One day I was bemoaning the fact that I had no time to access the library. A man who lived in the men’s dorm said, ” You know for 5 dollars a night you can stay in the men’s dorms and have access to the library till 11 P.M. almost every night!” Now he tells me! But it was not really his fault for not telling me, it was my fault for not asking!
What a wonderful thing to learn, especially during finals. I would end up staying many nights there, and learned so much! What I did not know had really hurt me. I should have ask more about it before, and I would have received!
The peace of God is a settled condition for you. We will study that today in Romans 5: 1-5. The peace of God is something that is a fact; but is also something you can feel. It completely alters your heart, mind, and emotions, and your body! Waiting till you get an ideal set of circumstances to live “inside” this supernatural peace is not required, nor will you and I EVER have ideal circumstances!
You can’t “work up” the peace of God by your own doing either. It is there for you, and has been there for you; the whole time! Assume it and ask God how to walk in it. It will not take long before you find yourself clear- headed and clear -hearted.
” Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.” John 14:27.
” These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.” John 16: 33 JWP
