WHAT CAN BE SHAKEN,WILL BE SHAKEN !
WHAT CAN BE SHAKEN,WILL BE SHAKEN !
I was bow hunting in the Northwest just a few years after arriving to live there, and had a revealing experience one December afternoon. In that country so much debris falls to the ground, in the form of leaves, fallen trees, etc. that a covering develops. You think you are walking on solid ground then, boom; you have fallen into a hole. I fell 7 feet into a hole created by fallen trees, covered with a blanket of moss, leaves and needles. …How could the ground look so solid and yet conceal such danger? If I had only been warned. If I had only been told. If I had only been more careful.
Hebrews 12:25-29 is rarely preached about. We will be there in a few weeks in our Sunday morning time. In the wake of the tragic events of Paris we need to study this passage.
One thing that will happen in the end times is that people will have to choose what is real to them. People lean heavily upon what, or whom, they have placed their faith, in times of distress. Where you place your next step, in these times, reveals your heart. Study the whole passage to collect the context, but here let me cover v. 27-28.
“This expression, ‘yet once more,’ denote the removing of the things that can be shaken, as of created things, so that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe; for our God is a consuming fire.”
God is looking mighty small in the eyes of some when compared to the problems of the present world. God looks more than able, however, for those who’s feet are on the solid ground of a daily walk with God. You drift out there too long with the world and you become like them. You look around for home plate and you realize home plate is gone, and you find yourself lost, you find yourself fallen.
You kept saying that one day you would really get serious about that walk with God, but now, at the final shaking, it is too late. Praise God for a period of shaking up before the final curtain. Get it straight now; where are your feet planted? I feel the earth moving, where will I land?
Isaiah 54:10 ” ‘For the mountains may be removed and the hills may shake, but My lovingkindness will not be removed from you. And My covenant of peace will not be shaken.’ Says the Lord who has compassion on you.”
